Halek Energy Announces Support for Wounded Warrior Project Through Philanthropic Arm Halek Charities
Wounded Warrior Project assists injured men and women in military services
DALLAS, Nov. 18, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- The Wounded Warrior Project has been named a recipient of Halek Charities, the philanthropic arm of Halek Energy LLC, an independent oil and gas exploration company based in Southlake, Texas.
"Halek Energy supports the efforts of the Wounded Warrior Project, which assists thousands of injured members of the military services through a variety of innovative and effective programs," said Jason Halek, CEO of Halek Energy.
Just this week, Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) announced the launch of WWP Restore. Restore is an online tool designed to deliver innovative educational content and self-help strategies to address combat related trauma and mental health issues like post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Through the website, real warriors share their experiences and offer solutions.
Recent estimates report nearly 300,000 veterans currently suffer from PTSD or major depression, and that 320,000 veterans experienced a traumatic brain injury in deployment. Only about half of those who meet criteria for PTSD or major depression have sought treatment.
"At Halek Energy, we support our men and women in uniform," Halek said. "We will not forget those who have been injured overseas while securing our freedom back at home."
Halek Energy is committed to being involved in numerous charitable, humanitarian and philanthropic causes through Halek Charities, an IRS-registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
