WASHINGTON, Sept. 21, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Hanover Research, a Washington, D.C.-based leader in providing unlimited on-demand, customized research to enterprise, education, health care, and non-profit organizations, announced today that it has acquired key assets of Educational Research Service (ERS), an Alexandria, Virginia-based provider of decision support tools for public school districts.

ERS, a nonprofit organization, has been providing independent, objective research and data to local K-12 school administrators, equipping them to make better-informed decisions, since 1973. Hanover will continue ERS's sound mission of "improving the education of children and youth by providing educators with timely and reliable research and information" and enhance ERS's former services by providing customized research to education leaders nationwide.

Relatively new in the K-12 space, Hanover has experienced substantial growth in their first three years working with systems and has watched their membership base increase to over 100 districts, regions, and states. "I believe Hanover Research will build on the quality established by ERS, provide opportunities to network among districts, and facilitate research discussions and improvement in multiple ways," said ERS CEO John Draper. "I look forward to seeing how public schools throughout the country utilize this innovative resource as they attempt 'to do more with less' during this troubled economy."

Sid Phillips, Managing Director of Hanover's District Administration Practice, said, "The acquisition of ERS presents Hanover the opportunity to network and disseminate tailored research to a broader audience of districts throughout the U.S.  In addition to local school districts, we are excited to partner with regional education agencies and state departments of education to provide access to our research analysts and resources to augment their internal research capacity – particularly around meta-analysis [literature reviews], program evaluation, survey design support and grant prospecting/authorship." Sid continued, "Integrating ERS's subscribers into Hanover's membership will enable Hanover to serve as a stronger research source for all educational organizations."

Hanover Research, a membership-based organization, collaborates with over 100 local school districts, regional education agencies, and state departments of education across the U.S. The goal of Hanover is to provide additional research capacity to participating members at a fixed, annual cost. Areas of focus include: program evaluation; survey design, administration and analysis; interviews with issue experts; data mining and analysis; competitive benchmarking; and literature reviews on both curricular and operational topics.
