Harris Properties CEO Lionel Harris Tapped to Speak at Community Associations Institute Conference
CULVER CITY, Calif., Jan. 23, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Lionel Harris, Founder and CEO of Harris Properties, a prominent Southern California based property management company, will be a featured panelist at the Community Associations Institute (CAI) conference, Wednesday, January 25th at the Skirball Center in Los Angeles. The panel will be reviewing recent legal decisions that impact community associations and their homeowner members.
According to Harris, "A key point of interest and concern is the recent application of the Lambden Ruling which sought to extend 'judicial deference' to Boards of Directors from their decisions, based upon the business judgment test. Briefly stated," continued Harris, "the court was not about to overrule the Board of Directors' decisions provided those decisions were taken properly. However, that immunity is not necessarily absolute as the recent Affan vs. Portofino Cove decision demonstrates."
The nearly 40 year-old Community Associations Institute is an international organization dedicated to fostering vibrant, competent and harmonious community associations and advocates legislative and regulatory policies that support responsible governance and effective management.
