Hartville Launches Expanded Wellness Plans in ASPCA Pet Health Insurance Program
With affordable wellness coverage available on all plans, more pet parents can give their pets critical veterinary care
CANTON, Ohio, June 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- This season is a great time to schedule pets' annual checkups, and now more pet parents in the US can have help giving their cats and dogs important preventive care with expanded wellness coverage options through the ASPCA Pet Health Insurance program.
The expanded wellness care options are part of several ASPCA Pet Health Insurance plan enhancements launched this month. ASPCA Pet Health Insurance is provided by the Hartville Group, a member of the Crum & Forster Enterprise and the only strategic partner for pet insurance of the ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®).
ASPCA Pet Health Insurance and other Hartville customers can now add wellness coverage to any plan, starting for as little as $10 a month. The flexible wellness options cover pets' annual exams, core vaccines, spay/neuter, wellness blood screenings, microchips and more. Advanced Wellness also covers more vaccines, flea/heartworm medication, annual dental cleanings and more for $25 a month.
As one of the oldest and largest pet insurance providers in the US, Hartville is committed to helping more pet parents get the veterinary care their pets need by offering affordable pet insurance options. The enhanced wellness coverage options are another step in this mission for Hartville.
According to the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), nearly 20% of dogs and a staggering 45% of cats did not visit a veterinarian at all in 2011. Often, finances represent a big barrier for pets to get important annual veterinary visits.
"It's part of our core mission to help pet parents give their pets quality veterinary care," said Dennis Rushovich, Senior Vice President of the Hartville Group. "Hartville was one of the first pet insurance providers in the US to offer wellness coverage years ago, and this latest enhancement will make it even easier for more pet parents to have financial help with their pets' preventive care."
"Proper preventive care is so important to keep pets happy and healthy," said Dr. Mary Beth Leininger, Vice President of Veterinary Relations and a Past President of the AVMA. "Our enhanced wellness options will help more pet parents follow through on the wellness care guidelines recommended by their veterinarian."
The new wellness options are available now in most states, and more states will be added in coming months, subject to approval by state Departments of Insurance.
