Unit Focused on Innovation Enters Third Year with Focus on Emerging Technologies as They Apply to Barrier-Free Digital Products in the Health and Wellness Sector
NEW YORK, March 28, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Havas Drive, the innovation unit of Havas Worldwide Health, today announced the launch of patient-centric services geared toward persons with disabilities and those undergoing rehabilitative therapies.
Led by Kel Smith—a nationally recognized authority on Web accessibility with a list of publications that have been cited by the Pentagon Library, Kent State's Knowledge Management program and the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law—the unit will offer a variety of services for patients, particularly those living with physical impairments and those undergoing rehabilitative treatments.
The core offer includes the development of strategic and technological products serving populations with low vision, blindness, autism, degenerative illnesses, behavioral disorders, cognitive difficulty and the hearing impaired.
Example executions and platforms will include tablet devices, gaming consoles, haptic interfaces, virtual prosthetics, adaptive therapies, text-to-speech functionality, and Second Life®.
"Havas has been a pioneer in the provision of new and exciting ideas, prototypes, and services that propel the agencies of Havas Worldwide Health into the realm of 'future first' healthcare communications," said Larry Mickelberg, Havas Worldwide Health's chief digital officer. "The new accessibility services will bring this ethos to a new specialized market that can greatly benefit from these innovations."
The accessibility services join existing Havas Drive health innovation platforms and services in advanced virtualizations, including 3-D environments and augmented reality, mobile and tablet application development, and remote monitoring.
