Hawaii's Molokai Ranch Heritage Rodeo Exceeds Expectations
Rodeo Attracts Thousands of Fans and Contestants Statewide
MOLOKAI, Hawaii, May 27, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- On Saturday, April 25, 2015, Molokai Ranch hosted the Molokai Ranch Heritage Rodeo at the arena on the Ranch's property located on the West End of Molokai, Hawaii. The event gathered over 2,000 fans and nearly 100 contestants from around the State; attendance has grown exponentially since Molokai Ranch brought the rodeo back in 2013.
"The Heritage Rodeo was successful due to the dedication and knowledge of our Molokai Ranch team members and volunteers. Their commitment demonstrates the reputation of quality and authentic hospitality upon which our ranch was built," said Clay Rumbaoa, CEO of Molokai Ranch. "We want to thank all the fans, sponsors, and especially the paniolo, whose skill, sportsmanship and athleticism made this a day to remember."
The wide range of rodeo events ran the gamut from Mixed Roping to Keiki Barrels to high-energy Bull Riding and can be seen on YouTube: https://youtu.be/CHsuCPw1TOw. This year's All Around Cowboy was Kalai Nobriga from the Big Island, and All Around Cowgirl was Shelby Rivera from Oahu, both winning custom engraved leather saddles. Winners of individual events received cash prizes and engraved belt buckles.
Mixed within all the action was a special live performance by Hawaii music icons and Grammy award-winning artists Henry Kapono, John Cruz, and Brother Noland, who together call themselves the "Rough Riders." These three inspiring songwriters delighted the crowd with their distinctive voices and musical talent.
"Molokai Ranch takes an active role in working toward sustainability, being proactive in pursuing our four established pillars of Animal Husbandry, as demonstrated by our Molokai Ranch Beef brand; Authentic Hospitality, of which the Heritage Rodeo is one example; Renewable Energy and Sustainable Farming," added Rumbaoa.
Key sponsors of this year's Heritage Rodeo were Mycogen, Bank of Hawaii, 'Ohana by Hawaiian Airlines, Hotel Molokai, and OrangeRoc Marketing and Creative Services. Follow Molokai Ranch at www.Facebook.com/molokairanch or visit www.molokairanch.com to learn more about our progress.
