NASHVILLE, Tenn., Sept. 24, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- What Would Dolly Do? is a comedic drama that centers on a female country music trio from the hills of Appalachia who, after committing a crime of passion, find themselves both on tour and on the run from the law.
Moore Casting is thrilled to announce, actress and singer/songwriter, Hayley Orrantia, is set to star as the film's lead character, 'Rae Lynn White' - a feisty country singer whose personality can easily light up a room and whose troubled past has inspired a catalogue of heartfelt music. 'Rae' along with her two best friends/bandmates make up the country music trio "The Gypsy Jo's." Together they embark on an unforgettable musical journey.
Hayley Orrantia is known for her role as 'Erica' on the hit ABC comedy, "The Goldbergs," which is currently in its sixth season. She also appeared in the 2016 film, "God's Not Dead 2," alongside Melissa Joan Hart and Jesse Metcalf. In addition to her acting, Hayley is also a rising singer/songwriter. Beginning in April of 2018, Hayley kicked off her first-ever headlining "Strong, Sweet & Southern" tour, performing for fans in 23 cities.
What Would Dolly Do? is being produced by Nathaniel Edwards alongside Michael Flanders (An L.A. Minute). Production is slated to begin mid-April 2019.
The script was co-written by Kd Amond and Lulu Marcil. Amond, making her directorial debut.
Deeply rooted in this musical journey are themes that make bandmates strong: friendship, solidarity, and sisterhood. When these girls band together, they're unstoppable.
Music and sisterhood are a part of Hayley's DNA, as a member of the girl group "Lakoda Rayne," which placed in the Top 10 during the first season of X-FACTOR — to working with some of Nashville's top producers and songwriters such as Corey Crowder (Chris Young), Mark Bright (Carrie Underwood, Rascal Flats), and Liz Rose (Taylor Swift).
What Would Dolly Do? will be distributed by Vision Films with CEO Lise Romanoff bringing her more than 25 years' experience distributing independent features.
