HeadFirst Sports Injury and Concussion Care Offering Free Concussion Baseline Testing
ANNAPOLIS, Md., March 16, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- In recognition of Brain Injury Awareness Month, HeadFirst Sports Injury and Concussion Care, a program of Maryland-based urgent care company Righttime Medical Care, is offering free concussion baseline tests that are scheduled between now and April 15th.
The baseline test is a computerized tool used to establish an individual's standard reactions and cognitive thinking, and is strongly encouraged for all student athletes' annual sports assessments, as well as for immediate follow-up testing when a concussion is suspected. Clinicians use an individual's baseline results to more easily assess and treat a concussion in the event of an injury. A quick and accurate brain injury diagnosis allows for a faster healing time — a critical component of the path to returning to activity.
HeadFirst uses the widely-recognized ImPACT® (Immediate Post-Concussion Assessment and Cognitive Testing) baseline test, which is the most scientifically-validated computerized assessment tool available, and is approved by the FDA for ages 5 to 59. Many of HeadFirst's clinicians are Credentialed ImPACT® Consultants (CICs) and have undergone extensive training to become experienced ImPACT® experts.
HeadFirst helped develop the pediatric version of the ImPACT® test, used for ages 5 to 12, and is the only concussion center in Maryland authorized to administer it.
Baseline testing at HeadFirst can be arranged by making an appointment at any of the 15 Righttime/HeadFirst centers in Maryland. Appointments can be made for all locations by calling 1-855-SIT IT OUT (748-4868). To celebrate Brain Injury Awareness Month, standard testing fees will not apply from March 16th to April 15th.
