Healthgrades Names East Los Angeles Doctors Hospital a Five-star Recipient in Labor and Delivery Services

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 11, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- East Los Angeles Doctors Hospital (ELADH) recently announced that it has achieved 5-stars for its performance in Labor and Delivery in both Vaginal Delivery and C-Section Delivery from Healthgrades, the leading online resource for comprehensive information about physicians and hospitals. These 5-star ratings indicate that the hospital's clinical outcomes are statistically significantly better than expected when treating the condition or performing the procedure being evaluated.

To help consumers evaluate and compare hospital performance, Healthgrades analyzed all-payer state data for 17 states for years 2013 through 2015. Healthgrades found that there is a significant variation in hospital quality between those who have received 5-stars in Labor and Delivery and those who have not. For example:

• Upon examination of 2013-2015 data and statistics, Healthgrades determined that patients treated in hospitals receiving a 5-star rating in C-Section Delivery, have, on average, a 66.0% lower risk of experiencing a complication while in the hospital than if they were treated by hospitals with 1-star.  Similarly, patients of a 5-star Vaginal Delivery hospital have on average, a 54.9% lower risk of experiencing a complication.***
