Health:Refactored Paints Roadmap To Success For Designers
Rock Star Design Panelists from Frog, IDEO, Jawbone, FitBit, HealthTap, and More Share Key Principles and Strategies Unique to Designing for Health Tech Market
SAN FRANCISCO, May 1, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Health 2.0 announced more details around the stellar line up that it has assembled for its upcoming Health:Refactored conference. The inaugural, first-of-a-kind conference is dedicated to guiding designers and developers on how to navigate the health tech space. World-class design gurus from IDEO, Jawbone, Frog Design, FitBit and HealthTap will share key principles and strategies, unique to designing for health.
Health:Refactored's highly curated agenda is packed to provide core tools, resources, information, and real-world guidance. How can design guide behavior? What is the roadmap to success? These renowned design gurus are eager to share their insights and join keynotes such as the US Dept. of Health and Human Services CTO Bryan Sivak and startup investor Esther Dyson, who have blazed an early trail of success in health IT.
- IDEO designer Gretchen Wustrack, who spearheads IDEO's Active Health domain, will discuss "Understanding, Engaging, and Guiding the Health User," to help designers learn how to leverage behavioral attributes of patients through effective design.
- Former Creative Lead for Firefox and VP at Jawbone Aza Raskin will discuss the importance of "Asking the Right Questions and Solving the Right Problems when Designing for Health."
- VP Interactive at FitBit Tim Roberts will share stories of design ideas gone wrong and how data helped prevent or uncover them in "Defeating Bad Product Decisions with Good Data."
- Aaron Sklar, who spearheads Healthagen's experience strategy & design, will share how to design simple mobile and online services aimed at consumers.
The health care industry is at an unprecedented inflection point, propelled by government mandates, private industry investment, and technology innovations ranging from APIs to big data, cloud, and mobile. Developers are harnessing these technologies, generating new pools of data, and funneling it down to users. Designers, on the other hand, are critical intermediaries in the tech ecosystem and are uniquely able to interpret these vast amounts of complex, raw data and present it in beautiful, visually appealing ways that drive engagement. That engagement can then be the basis for improving adherence and behavior change, which are fundamental to the success of health IT-based apps, products, and services.
"Designers are looking for big opportunities where they can apply their talents in industries that aren't overcrowded, like the advertising, payments, and publishing industries. Many now realize that the health tech space offers an untapped canvas. Health:Refactored enables designers to learn the key stepping stones and principles required to succeed in this burgeoning market," said Indu Subaiya, Co-Chairman & CEO of Health 2.0.
