From Policy to the Pharmacy Counter: Navigating Patient Assistance in an Era of Legislative Shifts – Wednesday, September 23, 2026, 10:00 AM - 10:50 AM EST.
Recent health care legislation is reshaping prescription drug affordability, insurance coverage, and access to specialty medications. The Inflation Reduction Act introduced significant Medicare Part D changes, including lower out-of-pocket exposure for many beneficiaries, expanded affordability protections, and new expectations around patient cost navigation. At the same time, the expiration of enhanced Affordable Care Act marketplace subsidies increased premiums and out-of-pocket costs for many commercially insured patients. Together, these policy shifts affect how patients seek financial support and how specialty pharmacies coordinate access, manage benefits, prior authorizations, and determine copay assistance eligibility. Attendees at inSPire2026 are encouraged to join this important conversation to better understand how legislative changes affect specialty pharmacies, assistance programs, and the patients who rely on them.
"We are thrilled to participate in inSPire 2026 and to contribute to conversations that advance the work of pharmacy professionals and improve patient outcomes. Enhancing the patient experience and improving patients' lives remain central to HealthWell's mission," said Michael Heimall, President & CEO of the HealthWell Foundation. "During our panel discussion, panelists will discuss practical solutions to strengthen patient navigation and address affordability challenges at the pharmacy. We also look forward to identifying effective ways to connect patients with assistance programs and examining recent legislative and policy changes affecting millions of Americans."
