Healthy Sight Ambassador Kenny Perry Makes Champions Tour Debut

PINELLAS PARK, Fla., Oct. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- PGA TOUR pro Kenny Perry announced he will make his Champions Tour debut Friday at the Administaff Small Business Classic at The Woodlands Country Club Tournament Course in The Woodlands, Texas.

Since 2009, Perry has served as a Healthy Sight Ambassador for Transitions Optical, helping to raise awareness among players and spectators at various PGA TOUR events about the importance of healthy sight and its connection to sports performance.  With his Champions Tour debut, Perry aims to bring that message to more audiences, who may not be aware of the role healthy sight plays as part of an overall healthy, active lifestyle.

Perry is very familiar with the effect healthy vision has on his game, having struggled with vision problems throughout his entire life.

"Throughout my career, I have had to overcome many obstacles, especially with the problems I've had with my vision.  I recently turned 50, and realize now, more than ever, how important it is to maintain an active, healthy lifestyle at any age, particularly when it comes to taking care of my eyes," said Perry.  "Now that I'm playing a few events on the Champions Tour, I have the opportunity to spread the word about taking the proper steps to preserve quality eyesight, particularly later on in life, to a whole new audience who may not be aware of the impact that vision has on their game and in their everyday lives."

In 2011, Perry is planning to continue to play some of his favorite PGA TOUR events, including the Transitions Championship, but will also play a few Champions Tour events throughout the year.  Being exempt on the PGA TOUR for the next four years, Perry will continue to compete as he works toward reaching his goal of 20 total PGA TOUR victories.
