Heather Beaven To Speak At Clemson About Bullying Issues

FLAGLER BEACH, Fla., Jan. 28, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Clemson University has invited Heather Beaven, CEO of The Florida Endowment Foundation for Florida's Graduates (The Foundation), to present at the annual At-Risk Youth National Forum. Beaven's presentation is entitled "Isolation, Exclusion and Bullying in Schools is a Workforce Development Concern."

The At-Risk Youth National Forum is an annual event designed to enhance the leadership skills of all adults who are seeking to strengthen interventions among school, community, and families, especially to assist those in at-risk situations. The forum will be held Sunday, February 15, 2015, through Wednesday, February 18, 2015, at the Kingston Plantation in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

"We don't always recognize that for many students, feeling unwanted in school is enough to make a person shrink into the background with fear or stay away from school entirely. This creates a ripple effect because colleges and employers want individuals who stand out — not people who blend in," Beaven said.

The Foundation operates Students United with Parents and Educators to Resolve Bullying (SUPERB) throughout Florida in partnership with the Florida Department of Education and private donors, including AT&T and Mobile Modular, Inc. Beaven is regarded as a school-to-career and workforce development expert. She built The Foundation, a Florida-based 501c3 not-for-profit, to help students navigate the challenging waters between childhood and adulthood.
