HemCon Medical Technologies, Inc. Projects Strong Third Quarter Revenues

WESTPORT, Conn., Sept. 16, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- HemCon Medical Technologies, Inc. ("HemCon"), a wholly owned subsidiary of TriStar Wellness Solutions(R), Inc. (OTCQB: TWSI) and a leading developer and marketer of advanced medical products, announced today that the revenue performance on their chitosan technology platform has grown by 39 percent, and microdispersed oxidized cellulose raw material is up 22 percent year-to-date though August 2014.  Overall, TWSI expects third quarter revenues to surpass the prior year in excess of 50 percent and be in line with overall business expectations for 2014.

The company has continued organic growth in the domestic market has seen strong momentum coming from international markets in 2014 and expects this growth pattern to continue with impending regulatory registration approvals for China and India.

The U.S. domestic market growth is fueled by best-in-class products, which are efficacious, support positive patient outcomes and drive value and cost savings back into healthcare.  Primary among these is the HemCon Patch^® PRO used for diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization to stop bleeding from the catheter access point in 10-15 minutes. This product is highly regarded and used in leading hospitals and facilities across the country. 

Surgical market acceptance for GuardaCare^®XR Surgical, HemCon's latest innovation for surgical wounds and traumatic injuries, has increased. The product allows for fast hemostasis and maintenance of a clear field of vision during various surgical procedures where control of bleeding is of critical importance. The product has gained significant market acceptance in 2014 as a result of the effort of HemCon's direct and independent sales force.

The HemCon dental product line has grown by 33 percent in the U.S. and 2014 saw the launch of the online ordering platform www.hemcondental.com which simplifies the supply chain for oral and maxillofacial surgeons, periodontists and dentists looking for an ideal practice management tool, allowing for quick patient turns and wound protection following oral procedures.

Military sales have grown 30 percent year-on-year. Though this business remains very unpredictable, we have seen a positive upward trend. HemCon's ChitoGauze^® PRO was recently added to the CoTCCC (Committee on Tactical Combat Casualty Care) guidelines for recommended hemostats of choices on the battlefield, providing continued support to U.S. Troops and those of Allied Forces across the globe.
