HemoShear Wins Two Awards at the Charlottesville Business Innovation Council's Annual Awards Gala
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., June 14, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- HemoShear, LLC, a biotechnology research company and leading developer of human and animal cell-based surrogate systems for discovery and assessment of new drug compounds, was presented two prestigious business awards at the Charlottesville Business Innovation Council (CBIC)'s Annual Awards Gala. The first award, The Rocket Award for rapid commercialization of a technology or product, recognized HemoShear's rapid movement into commercialization of its human and animal cell-based surrogate systems. The second award, The Community Award for commitment to improving the quality of life in Central Virginia, recognized HemoShear's Vice President of Lab Operations Nikki Hastings for her ceaseless commitment to training, outreach, and highlighting of the community's biotech industry as a vibrant local career path. This year's event, the 14th consecutive annual gala, brought together more than 200 leaders from the Charlottesville, VA entrepreneurial and technology community and featured keynote speaker Norman Bellingham, 1988 Olympic Gold Medalist in Kayaking and former chief operating officer of the United States Olympic Committee, along with Aneesh Chopra, former chief technology officer of the United States and former Secretary of Technology for the Commonwealth of Virginia.
