Henry Schein Promotes Peter McCarthy to President, Global Animal Health Group

MELVILLE, N.Y., July 21, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Henry Schein, Inc. (NASDAQ: HSIC), the world's largest provider of health care products and services to office-based dental, animal health and medical practitioners, announced today that it has promoted Peter McCarthy to the position of  President, Henry Schein Global Animal Health Group. Mr. McCarthy also joins the Company's Executive Management Committee.

In his new position, Mr. McCarthy will oversee the Company's global animal health business, which spans 19 countries, including the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Malaysia and 14 countries in Europe. In 2014, Henry Schein's global animal health business had sales of approximately $2.9 billion. 

Prior to assuming his new position, Mr. McCarthy was President, Henry Schein International, with responsibility for Henry Schein's animal health businesses outside of the United States and Canada.  Mr. McCarthy began his career at Henry Schein in 2010 with responsibility for the Company's animal health business in Europe.

Before joining Henry Schein, Mr. McCarthy held a variety of positions of increasing responsibility at Schering-Plough Animal Health (now Merck Animal Health) in both the United Kingdom and the United States, before serving as the company's Senior Director, Global Operations and General Manager, China. In these roles, Mr. McCarthy led global business development, as well as strategic planning. Prior to Schering-Plough Animal Health, Mr. McCarthy spent 14 years at Wyeth/American Cyanamid helping to grow its pharmaceutical business.

Mr. McCarthy holds a degree in Applied Biology from the University of Hertfordshire in the United Kingdom. He previously has served as a Member of the Board of the International Federation for Animal Health Europe, and the International Association Executive Animal Health Study Center, CEESA, based in Belgium. Mr. McCarthy is also a graduate and member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), which is located in the U.K. He will be based at Henry Schein's worldwide headquarters in Melville, N.Y.
