Metropolis' "Super Soldier" Collection Valued at Nearly $1 Million on Display at San Diego ComicCon July 21-24
SAN DIEGO, July 18, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- San Diego ComicCon -- When a comic book collection worth nearly $1 million appears, fans and collectors take notice. That's why Metropolis Collectibles, the world's largest vintage comic dealer, expects big crowds when they unveil their new "Super Soldier" collection at San Diego ComicCon this week.
Metropolis Collectibles has wrapped a complete run of Captain America comics from the 1940s—carefully collected over 15 years by one avid fan—into its new "Super Soldier" collection, which debuts this week along with the new Captain America: The First Avenger movie.
"The Super Soldier Collection is an incredible collection of pristine copies of Captain America's earliest adventures in the Golden Age of comics during and after WWII," said Stephen Fishler, co-owner and chief executive officer of Metropolis Collectibles and ComicConnect.com, their online auction division. "The consignor chose comics with striking eye appeal to be part of this amazing collection."
The collection, which consists of more than 250 Golden Age comic books that have been highly graded by comic book rating standards, is being displayed July 21-24 at San Diego ComicCon 2011 at the Metropolis booth (#5516 and 5517), and the comics are available now at www.metropoliscomics.com.
With the release of the Captain America movie and the heightened interest in comic books as a tangible investment, Metropolis expects to attract new and old fans with the Super Soldier Collection. Other titles represented in the collection include Mystic Comics, Daring Comics, Daring Mystery Comics, Sub-Mariner Comics, Human Torch, Young Men and even some comics like Superman, All Star, All American, Adventure, Famous Funnies, Flash Comics and Comic Cavalcade.
Metropolis Collectibles has brokered record-breaking comic book sales, including an unprecedented $1.5 million sale of an Action Comic #1, the legendary comic that introduced Superman to the world.
