HGTV ANNOUNCES WINNER OF HGTV SMART HOME 2025 IN SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS

Cathy Everts of Eagle, Idaho, is the Recipient of the Grand Prize Package Valued at Over $1.1 Million

NEW YORK, Aug. 27, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- HGTV, a member of the Warner Bros. Discovery family of brands, today announced the winner of this year's HGTV® Smart Home is Cathy Everts of Eagle, Idaho. The prize package is valued at over $1.1 million and includes a newly renovated, fully furnished home located in San Antonio, Texas, a 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLC Plug-In Hybrid SUV, and $100,000 cash. The home was constructed by local builder partners and designed by HGTV Smart Home designer Poonam Moore.

Cathy was randomly selected from more than 72 million entries to win the HGTV Smart Home 2025 sweepstakes, which ran from April 1, 2025, through Friday, May 23, 2025. A devoted fan who has entered HGTV sweepstakes for nearly a decade, Cathy signed up for daily email reminders to make sure she never missed a chance to enter. 

When asked about her favorite part of the home, Cathy didn't choose a specific room—she's simply thrilled to be near San Antonio. "I love San Antonio, and I want to see my husband's place of rest," she shared, referencing her late husband, Dan, who is buried in Rockwall, Texas, just a few hours away. Cathy and Dan were married for 35 years and raised three sons together. She is so excited to host all eleven of her grandchildren in her spacious new home.

The surprise reveal took place during a family lunch, orchestrated by Cathy's son Drew. Recalling the moment, Cathy laughed, "I was so excited to spend time with my son, and the hostess comes up, and she has an unusually big smile, and I thought, 'wow, everyone is really happy here today.' When Poonam called my name, I knew something was up! My brain said there's no way this is real!"
