Hickory Ground Solutions and Supply Chain Visions team up on 3 SBA contracts

ARLINGTON, Va., Sept. 24, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Hickory Ground Solutions, LLC, teaming with Supply Chain Visions, Inc., have been awarded 3 contracts through the Small Business Administration's Investing in Manufacturing Communities Partnership (IMCP).

The intention of the IMCP initiative is to accelerate the resurgence of manufacturing and help cultivate an environment for businesses to create well-paying manufacturing jobs in regions across the country.

The IMCP is designed to reward communities that demonstrate best practices in attracting and expanding manufacturing by using long-term planning that integrates targeted investments in workforce training, infrastructure, research, and other key assets.

"We will be looking for opportunities to expand nodes in which small businesses have a strong foothold and look for new segments and opportunities for small business integration into the supply chain," said Bart Morrison, CEO of Hickory Ground Solutions.

The HGS/SCV Team will conduct strategic supply chain analysis of disrupted or at-risk regional manufacturing communities, launching three parallel efforts with the goal of restoring supply chains by aligning resources and increasing participation by small businesses in three locations in the US.

The South Central Region of Virginia has experienced large scale supply chain disruption since 2000 largely due to offshoring of its core textile industry driven by NAFTA which served as the catalyst for the enduring disruption the region faces today.

The Central Region of Oklahoma suffers from a constant barrage of supply chain disrupting tornadoes which has caused a ripple effect within the oil industry's supply chain.

The Tri-Cities area of East Tennessee has also been greatly affected by offshoring in addition to continually tightened restrictions on the areas low-cost energy source, coal.

As these regions look to stabilize their manufacturing industry and push to grow their economies, the team's mapping methodology will provide the necessary framework to grasp the underlying supply chain flows - and their interdependencies – in order to identify opportunity.
