High-Tech Businessman John Colbert Kicks-Off Campaign for Congress Against Adam Schiff

BURBANK, Calif., April 14 /PRNewswire/ -- High-tech businessman John Colbert kicked-off his campaign for Congress yesterday before a cheering crowd of 250 who gathered at McCambridge Park in Burbank. Colbert is the Republican running in the 29th district, currently represented by Congressman Adam Schiff.

"What we have in Washington today is a Congress which expresses the will of government instead of the will of the people," said Colbert. "Out of control spending by Adam Schiff and the rest of Congress has created a staggering national debt. Worse, they are proposing more debt, more spending, higher taxes and intrusive government programs that threaten our freedoms."

John Colbert is a former Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department detective and CEO of Guidance Software, Inc., a high-tech company that specializes in putting the world's worst criminals behind bars, including such notorious criminals as the BTK Killer and many well-known terrorists.

Colbert told the crowd that reducing debt; ending pork barrel spending and earmarks; holding all government Agencies and officials accountable; promoting job creation and restoring the proper role of government will be his highest priorities.

"We cannot keep mortgaging our children's future. We have to get our fiscal house in order and that means instilling some common sense discipline to how Congress treats our tax dollars," Colbert said.

Leading Guidance Software was a natural progression from John's 13 1/2 years as a law enforcement officer with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. He was a hard-charging investigator with a top arrest record and helped establish one of the world's first computer forensics crime labs.

John served honorably in the United States Army at Fort Wainwright, Alaska, and received a meritorious service award in recognition of his achievements. John and his wife, Tamara, both native Californians, are raising three boys.
