Himfr's analysis finds that in February 2010, China's imported cotton yarn reached 62,382 tons. The amount of money spent reached 156.3 million U.S. dollars. From January to February, the total amount of imported cotton yarn reached up to 170,449 tons, equalling approximately 419.31 million U.S. dollars, with a year-on-year growth of 54.4% and 64.4%. Import prices increased year on year to 6.5%.
From January-February, the amount of imports is up. The amount of carded cotton yarn product imports reached 86,667 tons. Import value totalled 186.7 million U.S. dollars, a year-on-year increase of 98.06% and 125.1%.
From the perspective of the country, from January-February, China imported cotton yarn (http://www.himfr.com/list-product-Health_Beauty-16000000-1.html ) mainly from Pakistan, India, Vietnam and China Taiwan. The first 2 months of imports of cotton from Pakistan amounted to 69,945 tons. Imports amounted to 15,872 U.S. dollars, year on year respectively, up 63% and 100.8%. In the first two months this year, the imports of cotton yarn from Vietnam and the amount of volume respectively increased 121.7% and 138.13%, up to 14,123 tons and 35.27 million U.S. dollars.
Himfr finds that, recently, the textile industry is getting warmer, but with domestic cotton resource constraints, and domestic cotton prices sharply rising, many companies are using imported yarn directly from the situation to mitigate cost pressures.
