HitFix Reveals Inaugural Oscar Power List

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 19, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- HitFix (http://www.hitfix.com) revealed its inaugural Oscar Power List for 2013.  The entertainment news site's awards season experts have tallied the top 30 players and organizations deemed the most influential and relevant in this year's race.  Not surprisingly, Harvey Weinstein, Co-Chairman of The Weinstein Company, came in at no. 1.  Right behind are producer Scott Rudin ("Inside Llewyn Davis") and legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg.

Other prominent and recognizable Hollywood players who made the list include Martin Scorsese, George Clooney, Michael Moore, Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hanks, Pixar and Walt Disney Animation Chief Creative Officer John Lasseter and, of course, Meryl Streep.

"With the race to Oscar an ever-expanding and prominent part of the movie business, we felt it would be beneficial to look at the major players and shed some light on how this aspect of the Hollywood machinery operates," said Gregory Ellwood, Editor-in-Chief, President and Co-Founder of HitFix.

Hollywood is currently experiencing one of the most competitive Oscar seasons in recent memory.
