Hogan Assessments and Sirota Partner to Launch Engaging Leader Report

TULSA, Okla., Nov. 2, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Hogan Assessments, a global leader in personality assessment and leadership development, and Sirota, a world leader in employee engagement, have partnered to develop the Engaging Leader Report, an in-depth approach to organizational engagement.

Employees are fully engaged and motivated when they first join an organization. However, extensive research indicates that these naturally occurring high levels of engagement and enthusiasm drop by an average of 20 percent after the first six months. The primary reason for this engagement decline is ineffective and disengaging leadership.

"It's become clear that the strongest influence of an individual's engagement is his or her direct boss," says Dr. Tomas Chamorro-Premuzic, CEO of Hogan Assessments. "Engagement drives performance, and leadership drives engagement. Great leaders engage their followers, and harness their energy to maximize their performance."

The Engaging Leader Report provides a picture of a leader's underlying motives and values and how it influences one's behavior at work. It also offers invaluable insight about how a team thinks about its leader.

"There are three basic needs that people seek in the workplace: achievement, camaraderie and equity," says Nicholas Starritt, Managing Director of Sirota. "When these three needs are met, people tend to be highly engaged and, the more engaged employees are, the more attentive they are to their organization."

The Engaging Leader Report consists of three equally important sections. The first, "Who You Are," assesses how your values and personality impact the type of culture you create for your team, and how employees relate to your underlying motives. The second, "How You Behave," determines how you set goals, what kind of team climate you create and how you foster an agile and open culture. The third "How You Affect Your Team," analyzes how your behavior impacts overall engagement and team performance.

"Effective leadership is fundamental because it transforms a collection of talented individuals into a high-performing team," says Chamorro-Premuzic. "And, since the secret to performance is engagement, it takes an engaging leader to make that happen."
