Hollywood Puts Kids in the Spotlight

WHO:	Kids in the Spotlight, Inc. and hosts actress Tatyana Ali and actor Harry J. Lennix. Additional celebrities expected to attend include: Alphonso McAuley (Love That Girl!), Rachel G. Fox (Melissa & Joey), Jon Huertas (Castle), Kenton Duty (Disney's Shake It Up), Ed Gathegi (Twilight), Kyle Massey (Fish Hooks), Chris Massey (Zoey 101), Penny Johnson Jerald (Castle), Dawnn Lewis (Futurama), Daryl Sabara (Generator Rex) and motivational speaker Les Brown.

WHAT:	Kids in the Spotlight, Inc. a non-profit organization will host its second annual *Movies By Kids, For Kids Film Festival & Awards Ceremony* where they encourage kids ages 11-17 in underserved communities in the Los Angeles area to tap into their creative genius by taking them through a ten-week program teaching them the essentials of filmmaking using software and equipment often reserved for professionals in the industry. The festival will celebrate their hard work as well as raise funds to continue the program and benefit more kids. Keeping it true to Hollywood industry award ceremonies, the festival will announce awards for:

	Best Screenplay/Story

WHY:	Tige Charity, founder and executive director started the program to offer a safe and creative environment that would encourage kids to rise above their current social and economic conditions by reaching for something they never thought was possible. Charity uses filmmaking as a motivational tool for the kids with the end product providing them with a sense of ownership and accomplishment.

About Kids in the Spotlight

Kids in the Spotlight, Inc. (KITS) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in May 2009. The program provides underserved youth with an introduction to, and training for the art of filmmaking. The program provides a safe environment for kids to express themselves while cultivating interest in film industry careers which are prevalent in Los Angeles.
