CHICAGO, Jan. 14, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Out of some 200 homes profiled through photos and slide shows last year in WSJ.com's House of the Day feature, readers voting on their favorite chose a home that was photographed by VHT, Inc., a leading provider of visual and digital marketing services to top real estate agents and brokerage firms.
The newspaper's "House of the Year" contest drew 456,939 total votes in December, with the VHT-photographed home claiming 52,633 votes to become the clear winner. (View photos from the Wall Street Journal House of the Year.) The 5,700-square foot home handily beat out 48 other House of the Week winners. The House of the Day is chosen by Wall Street Journal real estate staff after reviewing large, upscale properties in for-sale listings across the country.
The pagoda-style home presented in the VHT Studios' photographs was described by WSJ.com as "a mix of architectural styles, with echoes of Frank Lloyd Wright and a dash of 1970s interior design." It is located in Riverwoods, IL, and is listed for just under $2 million.
"The Riverwoods house has an unusual design, with its walls of windows, large boulders lining a wraparound patio, lush landscaping and even a 30-foot rubber tree growing in the living room," said Brian Balduf, Chairman and Founder of VHT, Inc. "Photographing the property required considerable time, skill and experience. Photographer Gene Schnar and Image Specialist Coleman Moy did a great job and represented our whole team of professional photographers and image specialists very well."
"VHT's nationwide network of experienced real estate photographers and proprietary, in-studio editing processes enable us to 'wow' consumers with images that truly present homes in their best possible light," Balduf said.
"It was a tricky home to photograph," said listing agent Tracy Wurster of Prudential Rubloff Properties in Lake Forest, IL. "But VHT did a masterful job of capturing the airy interiors, beautiful window views and lovely architectural details that make this property so unique. The high-quality images provided by VHT certainly played a role in attracting all the attention the house is getting."
