Hoot of Loot is Helping Schools, Teachers & Educational Manufacturers
TULSA, Okla., Feb. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Educators are continually looking for ways to improve the learning materials available to their students. Many teachers experience frustration when trying to update their classrooms due to the lack of funds to purchase new materials. On the flip side, many major school supply companies have warehouses full of overstock or discontinued items and no efficient way to unload the surplus inventory. Connecting educators and their gently used classroom supplies along with an outlet to purchase brand new overstock educational items, is the pioneering idea behind Hoot of Loot. Hoot of Loot was created by Tulsa, Oklahoma web developer Edward Shane and his wife Cheryl, a teacher in Oklahoma public schools for the past eleven years.
Hoot of Loot is the first website of its kind to allow registered schools, teachers and home school parents to place inexpensive product ads on a website that specializes in educational items. School supply companies can also sell their surplus educational items on the site as well. Users are able to post their items into well-organized categories that can be easily searched by site visitors.
"We think a low cost product ad is better than free ads, because people are more likely to post desirable products that relate to the web site," said Edward Shane.
"Books or instructional materials that are still perfectly usable get disposed of or buried in storage rooms everyday," explains Cheryl Shane. "We came up with this idea to help schools reclaim some of their investment in tools they no longer utilize and at the same time help teachers and schools with limited funds to find great materials in their own cities or across the country. Many people outside the field of education are not aware of how much teachers will spend of their own personal money to buy supplies for their classrooms."
