200 Dealers and Dual Rates Demand Recognition of Teamsters as Their Union
SHELBYVILLE, Ind., Oct. 17, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- More than 200 dealers and dual rates — who split their time between dealing and overseeing the casino floor — are on strike to demand Horseshoe Indianapolis recognize Teamsters Local 135 as their bargaining representative.
The workers were scheduled to vote to join Local 135 on Friday, October 17. The ongoing government shutdown caused the election to be delayed indefinitely, so the prospective Teamsters proposed using a neutral third party to conduct the vote as planned. Horseshoe's management refused, leaving the group no choice but to strike.
On the picket line, future Horseshoe Teamsters are fighting for strong union representation.
