Hospice Care of the Southwest Celebrates 10 Years Of Caring
AMARILLO, Texas, April 15, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Ten years ago, Hospice Care of the Southwest (HCSW) began with a vision of improving the quality of life for those facing serious illness and their families. Hospice Care of the Southwest is honored to be celebrating its tenth anniversary of caring for those in the Texas panhandle.
Hospice Care of the Southwest grew out of an increasing need for access to physical, emotional and spiritual care for those living with serious illness. HCSW was built on the belief that the end of life should be as comfortable and rewarding as possible and that individuals living with serious illness should have support, education and resources.
"We wanted to create an organization that met a full spectrum of needs from the physical and emotional aspects of illness to the needs of family, to spiritual and grief support. We felt there were too many people in the Texas Panhandle who were facing serious illness without the care and support they needed," said Ronnie Atkins, MSN, CNS, CHPN, RN, Hospice Care of the Southwest, Administrator.
Hospice Care of the Southwest licensure was approved in April 2005 and became Medicare Certified on July 8, 2005. Since then they have served more than 2,900 individuals, bringing them peace, comfort and compassionate care.

Hospice Care of the Southwest provides care, education, support, and counseling wherever an individual may call home. A certified nursing assistant can provide assistance with personal care. On-call nurses are available 24 hours a day in the case of a medical crisis. Hospice Care of the Southwest volunteers can give a break to the caregiver, allowing them time away to do needed errands or enjoy time with friends like meeting for coffee or going to the movies.
