HospiceMed Introduces New E-Prescribing Solution for Hospice Agencies Across the U.S.
HospiceMed's new E-Prescribing solution offers quick electronic prescribing for controlled substances for hospice care providers
SALT LAKE CITY, Jan. 20, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, HospiceMed, a technology leader in the hospice PBM industry, had the privilege of announcing the completion of electronic prescribing for controlled substances, or EPCS, using the Surescripts network. For the past several years, HospiceMed has provided innovative solutions built specifically for the hospice and palliative care industry. Now, with their new EPCS capabilities, they offer the ability for prescribing practitioners to send controlled medications directly to dispensing pharmacies without having to provide faxes or hard copies.
HospiceMed was founded by a PharmD who had a life-changing experience with hospice. While under hospice care, one of his close family members did not receive the medications they needed—a direct result of a communication breakdown between the hospice and the pharmacy. The creation of HospiceMed's ordering, profiling, and e-prescribing software, eRx, was a direct response to this issue. In January 2017, HospiceMed completed a third-party EPCS audit with the Drummond Group, LLC, a global software certification organization approved by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). The approval from the Drummond Group enables prescribing practitioners of HospiceMed's clients to quickly and securely send medication orders directly to pharmacies using a simple ordering process through HospiceMed's eRx software.
