The 1,200 square foot suites at Hotel Derek, A Destination Hotel, rest on the top floor of the hotel and were conceptualized by Texas-based design firm Flick Mars in collaboration with Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams, one of the country's premiere furniture manufacturers with a popular retail location just steps from the hotel.

"We wanted to create a contemporary, stylish setting with a bit of whimsy," said Adina Riffel, director of capital projects for Destination Hotels. "We worked directly with Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams for the majority of furniture selections and brought in the quirky by creating the original 'think room,' which features magnetic art pieces. In one room guests can play Scrabble on the larger-than-life magnetic board and in the other, guests can use their imagination to create poetry or song lyrics."

In keeping with the same sleek look and edgy feel from the hotels other recently renovated guestrooms, the Penthouse interiors feature soothing color tones of storm cloud grey, cream, blue grey and pops of bold yellows and deep plums mixed with mirrored furnishings and stainless steel fixtures. The fun and functional suite makes for an inviting space to conduct a meeting of the minds or entertain an exclusive, intimate affair up to six.
