Hotel Derek Achieves 2014 Forbes Travel Guide Four Star Status
New Rating Marks The First Four Star For Hotel Derek In 10-year History
HOUSTON, Jan. 23, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Texas-chic styling and bold look at Hotel Derek, by Destination Hotels & Resorts, has more than just hotel guests seeing the space in a new light. Forbes Travel Guide released its list of 2014 Star Rated Hotels, Restaurants and Spas, an industry standard rating system. Hotel Derek received a Four Star rating, a first-ever for the Galleria-area's signature boutique property that became part of the Destination Hotels & Resorts family of independent properties in 2012.
"Our doors have been open for 10 years, and today we're shining brighter than ever," said Shawn Gracey, general manager of Hotel Derek. "Since the acquisition in 2012, our team has been working tirelessly to redefine, reposition and reintroduce Hotel Derek in a very cool and modern way that only a boutique hotel can. This announcement is a validation of our team's hard work, and we're most excited to share our success with our guests."
The 312-room Hotel Derek is one of only five Houston properties to receive the prestigious Forbes Four Star rating, and the only property added to the list this year.
According to Forbes Travel Guide, Four Star hotels provide a distinctive setting where the guest will find many interesting and inviting elements to enjoy throughout the property. Attention to detail is prominent – from design concept to the quality of products provided – and staff are accommodating and take pride in catering to the guest's specific needs.
The Forbes Travel Guide rating process includes both a faculty inspection and a follow up service evaluation, which is conducted by an anonymous inspector who performs an incognito evaluation based on more than 550 service standards.
Surrounded by Houston's most prestigious shopping, dining and entertainment venues, Hotel Derek has even more exciting news to come in 2014 – from a highly stylized fitness center dubbed "SWEAT" to major restaurant changes, renovated meeting space for groups and social catering events and hip pool enhancements, which include a three-story, Texas-inspired movie wall designed by a local artist.
Hotel Derek is located at 2525 West Loop South at Westheimer. For more information, call 713.850.9200 or visit HotelDerek.com.
