Hotels.com Names the U.S. and International Destinations with the Best Hotels
Genuine Guest Reviews reveal Nashville, Portland and San Antonio hotels offer the best guest value
DALLAS, June 25, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- With an endless array of information about hotels and destinations available, the travel planning process can often be overwhelming. However, travelers can learn a lot about a hotel or destination by simply reading guest reviews.
To help travelers find the best destination, Hotels.com® analyzed data from its database of more than 11 million Genuine Guest Reviews to identify the most popular U.S. and international cities with the best guest-rated hotels.

While ranked #8 and #12 in domestic popularity, respectively, Washington, DC and Boston tied for the best average overall guest rating (4.1) among Top 25 U.S. Cities. According to hotel guests, Boston also offers the best hotels in terms of condition (4.2), service (4.2) and cleanliness (4.4) among Top 25 Cities. Among other top destinations with average overall guest ratings of 4.0 and above, Portland hotels offer the most affordable rates ($126) according to the Hotel Price Index.
When compared to traditional star ratings, Hotels.com found that Nashville hotels offer travelers the most value with an average guest rating (3.8) which is above the average industry star rating (2.2). Portland and San Antonio hotels also offer significant value above their average industry star ratings.
Among Top 25 International Cities, the hotels with the highest overall guest ratings can be found in Vancouver, Tokyo, Hong Kong and Venice (4.0). Hong Kong hotels also stake the claim to having the highest ratings for condition (4.1), service (4.1-tied) and cleanliness (4.2-tied) according to travelers.

On a country level, Hotels.com found that Monaco (4.4) boasts the best guest-rated hotels in Europe and globally, while Turks and Caicos (4.2) and the Cayman Islands (4.2) have the best collection of hotels in the Caribbean. The island country of French Polynesia (4.3) and less popular European country of Slovenia rounded out the top five countries according to hotel guests. The U.S. tied with several countries including Australia, Spain and Argentina, for the 34th global position with an overall average guest rating of 3.9.
