Hotwire Survey Reveals 42.3 Million American Adults* Rank Valentine's Day as the Desired Secondary Holiday to Plan a Weekend Trip

SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 28, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- With Valentine's Day right around the corner, Hotwire.com®, a leading discount travel site and mobile app, today released findings from its third annual American Travel Behavior Survey, conducted online in October 2013 on behalf of Hotwire by Harris Interactive among over 2,000 U.S. adults ages 18 and older. According to the survey, 42.3 million American adults (18 percent) reported that they'd prefer to plan a weekend trip around Valentine's Day, more than any other listed "non-major¹" holiday. Luckily, Valentine's Day falls on the Friday before President's Day this year, creating the perfect opportunity for a long weekend escape. To guide these lovebirds, the experts at Hotwire have revealed 10 of the most sought-after spots for significant others taking a romantic respite.
