HOUSTON, Jan. 12, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The Houston Black Real Estate Association (HBREA) is holding its 68th Installation Awards and Scholarship Gala on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 7pm.
During this formal dinner and awards ceremony, the incoming officers will be installed, Roland Martin, host and managing editor of TV One's "News One Now" daily morning show, journalist, author and syndicated columnist will give the keynote address, Honorary Chair Mayor Sylvester Turner will be the guest speaker and Isaiah Carey from Fox 26 news will be the host for the evening.

The Gala will be held at The Power Center, 12401 South Post Oak Road Houston, Texas 77045. Our goal is to educate and inform about the purpose and philanthropy of the HBREA as we celebrate its 68th anniversary. Additionally, this fundraiser will benefit our various community initiatives that support and encourage homeownership in the Houston Area.
"African American homeownership is at an all-time low. The National Association of Real Estate Brokers has started an initiative called 2 million in 5. The goal of which is 2 million new African American homeowners in the next 5 years." HBREA President Elect- Kim Barnes- Henson.
The HBREA is a non-profit 501 (c)(6) organization and the local chapter of the National Association of Real Estate Brokers (NAREB). It's the oldest and largest African American trade association in the country and dedicated to "Opening the Doors to Democracy in Housing". The HBREA works with various agencies in the Houston area while maintaining an active role in the community by offering scholarships, training, home ownership assistance and counseling to low-to-moderate income individuals.
