How a New Diet and Lifestyle Change Helped One Low Thyroid Patient Get Her Life Back

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Oct. 27, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Leslie H. struggled with a low thyroid condition since she was diagnosed in 2005. Her symptoms are not uncommon to many low thyroid patients, yet her recovery plan was personal and specific.

After experiencing steady weight gain with an inability to lose weight despite constant exercise and dieting, Leslie knew something wasn't right.

"You know how uncomfortable you feel when you put on ten pounds over the holidays? Well, I gained 50 pounds in just five months," Leslie said.

Her plan was a process; through tests and trial and error, Leslie found that her body wasn't absorbing vitamin D properly. She also couldn't tolerate wheat, oats, rye, barley, rice, corn and dairy. The care plan helped her discover that these food sensitivities and digestive disorders were causing most of her symptoms.

"I now eat a whole food diet composed mostly of protein, beans, vegetables and fruit," Leslie said. "It's a pretty strict diet by most people's standards, but in my case it's absolutely essential."

After several months of working with the chiropractic physicians at the center and following her new plan, Leslie was able to identify the root causes of her symptoms. She could now determine what specifically she needed to do to improve and feel better.

"I've gone as long as 45 days without a headache," Leslie said. "I've now lost 44 pounds, 17 percent body fat and 22 inches overall. Today I look and feel completely different than I did a few years ago…I'm living a whole new life today."
