'How to Launch Two Companies in Three Months for Less Than £1000. Recessions Force Companies Into New Ways of Thinking.'
LONDON, July 9, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
British Instant Impact and American Elm Talent, two companies specialising in recruitment, have created a cost-effective and flexible model for expanding their companies in a recession- each establishing a new trans-Atlantic enterprise in three months for less than £1000.
They call it the 'Director Swap' but this is not your standard joint venture. This model is both a risk-averse and cheap method of setting up a company in a recession; 2 companies, 2 continents, 3 months, £1000.
Indeed, both companies started generating revenue and winning new clients before their launch in the Spring, and the success has continued.
The management team have created a flexible model whereby a Director from each company swaps country with their trans-Atlantic counterpart to launch their respective companies abroad as joint ventures. Felix Mitchell, Instant Impact, and Mike Newcomer, Elm Talent will be transferring their lives for 3 months. They have even swapped apartments and cars.
Meanwhile co-founders Rob Blythe, Instant Impact and David Fischer, Elm Talent, manage their existing companies.
The synergy between the partner companies facilitates the endeavour; both companies specialise in different areas of recruitment; Instant Impact for graduates and Elm Talent for young professionals with at least 2 years of experience.
This enables the two companies to establish their new venture by capitalising on each other's resources, local knowledge and expertise, rather than relying on costly external help or capital and without risking a conflict of interest. They are mixing and matching their respective managerial talent as well as office space - and with immediate success.
Crucially in this model the four companies always have a full managerial staff, ensuring that workforce capacity is maintained whilst simultaneously planting the seed for their new companies.
Instant Impact, founded by two Cambridge graduates, specialising in paid internships and graduate recruitment, are launching on the East Coast of the US where there is a significant gap in the market. Their innovative graduate recruitment model offers SMEs an on-campus recruitment solution that has previously been unavailable, allowing them to recruit top talent as they have never done before. They hope to build on the remarkable success of their British venture, which saw them place 120 graduates in their first financial year.
Elm Talent, founded in 2011 by two Ivy League PHD graduates in Bio-Physics and computer science respectively, specialise in placing young professional elite candidates in technical and financial hires. They are launching a London Office to bring their executive services to the UK.
On both sides of the Atlantic the graduate labour market is saturated with great candidates. Yet employers complain of a skills gap amongst graduates. Instant Impact and Elm Talent seek to solve this dilemma sourcing great talent for their clients and helping graduates with their career progression.
