Huangling to Launch Photography Contest for the Traditional Shaiqiu Event

Shaiqiu, or "crop dry in mid-air", is a unique local folklore in Huangling with a long history. To better store crops, local residents sun-dry their harvests with other foods over roofs and racks all through the village, creating layers of vivid colors against the sober Hui-style architecture basked in the sunshine.

A wealth of attractive rewards is prepared for the competition, including vouchers for Huangling traditional accommodations, Hostel Flowers, a forest adventure, as well as a ticket set for Huangling and Shimen Mountain. All Works are displayed on the online presentation area: http://www.wyhl.cc/ykfw/wxws.html, and the selection of award-winners will be made based on the number of likes for each photo on the webpage. The competition will run from October 15th to December 21st, 2016, and final prizes will be announced before December 31st, 2016.

Wuyuan Rural Culture Development Co., Ltd. initiated the 5-month Huangling Shaiqiu Cultural Festival in 2015, expecting to attract more visitors to enjoy the beauty of Huangling and the fun of local activities, as well as to conduct cultural exchange and communication. This year's photography contest is a part of the 2016 Cultural Festival conducted by the company.

The competition has gathered numerous photographers, and outstanding works have been submitted since the very first day. A wide range of themes that can present the beauty and authentic lifestyles of Huangling are involved, including the natural scenery, "Shaiqiu", ancient architecture, folklore, people and farming.

Competition guidelines are disclosed on the official Huangling scenic area website, http://www.wyhl.cc/. All participants should upload their works to the website in the form of a JPEG; length of submitted works must be no less than 2,000 pixels, while photos taken by DSLR and smartphone should have a resolution of 300dpi and 72dpi respectively. A brief description of no more than 50 words is also required together with the photo submission.
