Hunsaker Partners LLC Acquires Funeral Home/Cemetery Combo and Two Cemeteries in the Atlanta Area

ATLANTA, Sept. 30, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Atlanta-based Hunsaker Partners LLC today announced it has reached an agreement to acquire a funeral home/cemetery combo and two cemeteries in the Atlanta area, including Southern Cremations and Funerals at Cheatham Hill in Marietta, Holly Hill Memorial Park in Fairburn and Eastlawn Memorial Park in McDonough, Georgia.  Details of the purchase, which has received approval from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), were undisclosed per FTC request. 

Hunsaker Partners President and CEO, Christine Hunsaker is an Atlanta resident and well respected figure in the funeral and cremation industry and one of the nation's leading cremationists.  Hunsaker has more than 25 years of experience in the cremation, funeral, and cemetery business and has been a corporate officer for two of the largest publically traded funeral companies in the United States.  She is currently a member of Cremation Association of North America (CANA); International Cemetery and Cremation Funeral Association (ICCFA); and the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA).

With a growing national trend toward cremation, the Atlanta market is ahead of the curve with an approximate 46 percent cremation rate, based on 2013 CDC death rates.  The Cremation Association of North America (CANA) has projected the cremation rate to continue to increase 2015-2025, which based on current confirmed figures of 2007 (34.78 percent) and preliminary 2008 figures (36.02 percent), stand at 46.04 percent for 2010 and 58.85 percent for 2025, which equates to 1,909,802 United States Cremations in 2025.
