
Hyperion Capital, LLC appoints Michael Crane
Michael Crane, life settlements veteran, joins Hyperion Capital to oversee risk management and to grow assets under management
IRVINE, Calif., Sept. 26, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Hyperion Capital, LLC, the insurance-linked and life settlements specialist manager, announced today that Michael T. Crane, formerly of Coventry Capital Ltd and Deutsche Bank AG, has joined the firm as a partner. Hyperion began investing proprietary capital in 2010 and opened its first managed account in 2011 for a major institutional investor.

Michael T. Crane Bio
Since May 2011, Mr. Crane has been the managing partner of Queen's Park Capital LLP, an advisory and capital-raising firm focused on insurance-linked risk. From December 2008 until April 2011, Mr. Crane was Chief Executive Officer of Coventry Capital Ltd. Coventry Capital is the capital markets arm of Coventry First, the largest U.S. life settlements originator. At Coventry, he was responsible for establishing and managing capital markets structuring and distribution centers in London, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Sydney. Before joining Coventry, he was with Deutsche Bank AG from July 2003 through October 2008. At Deutsche Bank, he founded the Longevity Derivatives Group and served as Global Head of Distribution. While with Deutsche Bank, he led the raising of over $2 billion of investment capital for a broad range of life-contingent asset transactions, ranging from closed end funds to total return swaps and structured notes and was responsible for a number of market innovations, including the first life settlement transaction structured entirely as a derivative. He has also held senior positions with Standard & Poor's, Credit Suisse First Boston and Barclays Capital. Mr. Crane's experience in the longevity markets began in 2000 at Gen Re Securities, a Berkshire Hathaway subsidiary, where he initiated and executed several of the market's earliest institutional investment programs in life settlements. Mr. Crane has an extensive capital markets background, including structured finance and derivatives. He is a frequent speaker at insurance-linked markets and alternative asset conferences and symposia. He received his B.A. degree in Economics from Harvard University.
