GAINESVILLE, Fla., Oct. 16, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Avera & Smith Attorneys at Law, in partnership with Tobacco Free Alachua, announce a countywide initiative promoting their new campaign, "I Pledge Not to Smoke." The campaign will invite the youth of Alachua County to take the pledge, spread awareness and help stop the use of tobacco products.
Hoping to bring awareness to the dangers of smoking, Avera & Smith invites students of the Gainesville community to step up and take a life-changing pledge. Flyers will be distributed to all middle and high schools in Alachua County, for students to sign and commit to remain tobacco free. Signatures will be collected digitally through Instagram, and hand signed forms can also be mailed in. Once collected, they will be incorporated into the design of a Regional Transit System bus to circulate through Gainesville. This display will serve as a public statement to end tobacco use, allowing members of the community to proudly take ownership of the campaign.
October 23 through 31, Mark Avera and Rod Smith will make an anti-smoking presentation at select Alachua County schools in conjunction with National Red Ribbon week's "A Healthy Me is Drug Free," a week-long campaign providing drug awareness for America's youth.
"We have seen firsthand the deadly effects of tobacco addiction. Smoking destroys lives, and we want to ensure the youth of our county take the pledge not to smoke," said Attorney Mark Avera.
