
IABC-LI Presents Annual Achievement Awards To Long Island Communications Professionals
WOODBURY, N.Y., June 15, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- On Wednesday, June 13th, IABC-LI presented its highly regarded annual achievement awards to four outstanding Long Island communications professionals, at a luncheon at the Crest Hollow Country Club, Woodbury. "We had a highly qualified pool of nominees this year, and the judges were faced with the difficult task of selecting the honorees," said Sheila Ziegler, Bradley Marketing Group. "Our 2012 winners represent Long Island communicators at their best."
Valerie Zurblis of Huntington, a senior communications professional and current director of marketing and public relations for the Nassau County Bar Association, Mineola, received the "Achievement in Communications" award. Hilary JM Topper, president and chief executive officer, HJMT Public Relations Inc., Melville, won the "Achievement in Digital Communications" award.
The "Community Service" award was presented to Ellen Christie, principal owner, E.C. Public Relations, East Meadow; and Ann D. Middleman, principal, ADM Marketing & Research Consulting, Westbury, and current president of the IABC-LI chapter, was awarded as the "Communicator of the Year."
Keynote Speaker Warns Of Dialogue Overload
The meeting's keynote speaker, IABC International executive board chairman, Adrian Cropley, told attendees, "Things like email have become a problem in organizations today and the dialogue has stopped happening within teams because of overload. But if we could cut through the noise and be heard, it would make a tremendous difference in terms of mutual understanding and shared knowledge."
New IABC-LI Board Announced
In addition, the 2012-13 Board of Directors for the chapter was sworn in: Ann Middleman, president; Jerry Allocca, vice president and communications director; Art Samansky, secretary; Kathleen O'Neill, treasurer; and Cynthia Leventhal, membership director.
