"Spotlight on Pittsburgh" is the theme for this year's annual awards competition which recognizes excellence and outstanding achievement in business communication throughout Western Pennsylvania.
"This year, we are celebrating all that Pittsburgh has accomplished on a national and global level by shining the spotlight on our local communicators," says IABC/Pittsburgh Chapter President and 2010 Golden Triangle Awards Committee Co-Chair Laura Capp Rihn.
The IABC/Pittsburgh Golden Triangle Awards recognize ideas and opportunities that are relevant to Pittsburgh and the communicators who populate the city. Because the local competition is modeled after the IABC International Gold Quill Awards, entries into the Pittsburgh competition can be adapted easily for the regional and international awards programs.
Call for entries for the 2010 competition, which includes 34 categories in Communication Management, Communication Skills and Communication Creative, will be distributed in early June. Entries will be evaluated by professional communicators from other IABC chapters across the country.
"Early bird entries received by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, June 30, 2010, will receive a discount on the entry fee," says Golden Triangle Awards Committee Co-Chair Edie Hartman. "We encourage interested entrants to visit our website at http://pittsburgh.iabc.com for more information."
In addition to the project categories, IABC/Pittsburgh recognizes a Business Communicator of the Year. Created to reward a deserving individual for outstanding contributions in practicing, promoting and/or enhancing professional communications, this award has been presented to communicators including Robert Hill from the University of Pittsburgh and Michael Koff, formerly of Sony Electronics. The deadline for nominations is Friday, July 30, 2010. Details and nomination instructions are located on the IABC/Pittsburgh website.
