ICCBBA Expands Enterprise Grant Program: Total Funding Increased to $100,000 in 2025 to Enhance Global Patient Safety

REDLANDS, Calif., Feb. 11, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- ICCBBA has released their annual Enterprise Grant. This year ICCBBA has increased the total fund to $100,000 USD. Each applicant can now request up to a maximum award of $50,000 USD, providing even greater support for impactful projects. 

Who is ICCBBA & What do They Do? 
ICCBBA is the international non-profit standards development organization dedicated to managing and developing the ISBT 128 Standard, the international information standard for the terminology, coding, and labeling of Medical Products of Human Origin (MPHO) e.g. blood, cells, tissues, human milk, organs. The organization plays a critical role in enhancing patient safety through the development and maintenance of this standard, as well as allocating globally unique identifiers to registered facilities. Since its establishment in 1995, over 3152 MPHO organizations from 77 countries have registered with ICCBBA. 

Opportunities with the Enterprise Grant 
Through the ICCBBA Enterprise Grant, ICCBBA supports initiatives focused on developing organizational capacity, particularly in electronic information management and traceability of MPHO. The grant aims to support projects operating at local, national, or regional levels, especially in resource-constrained settings, to enhance organizational infrastructure with an emphasis on safety, efficiency, and traceability. • Building technical capacity in transfusion and/or transplantation activities for enhanced safety and efficiency.
• Assisting establishments in achieving reliable traceability of all managed MPHO.
• Enabling ICCBBA to fulfill its mission of globally enhancing patient safety through international information standards for MPHO.

Key Dates & Information 

Eligibility Criteria & Rules 
Open exclusively to providers of MPHO transfusion and/or transplantation services that are non-profit entities, public institutions, and/or governmental agencies. 

• Funds must be utilized exclusively for non-commercial purposes aimed at enhancing the safe and efficient provision of MPHO transfusion and/or transplantation services.
• Projects focusing on improving traceability, particularly in resource-limited settings, are strongly encouraged.
• Projects funded by this grant are expected to be completed within 12 months of receiving approval.
• All applications must be submitted in English.
• Applicants must comply with all relevant regulations and agreements outlined in the grant guidelines.

The Evaluation Process and Rubric Scale 
Enterprise Grant applications will be evaluated based on the following criteria: 

• Evaluation Questions (10 points)
• Demonstration of Need (15 points)
• Description of Project/Initiative (25 points)
• Intended Goals and Outcomes (20 points)
• Alignment of Budget to Description of Work and Goals/Outcomes (10 points)
• Team Composition (10 points)
• Sustainability of the Work (10 points)

Award Information 
Successful applicants will receive formal notification from ICCBBA via a Notice of Award (NoA) sent directly to the applicant organization's business email. Payment procedures vary based on the grant amount. Any unused funds must be returned to ICCBBA upon termination of the agreement. Grantees may request extensions in writing under specific circumstances. Grantees must provide written reports summarizing project progress within specified timeframes.
