REDLANDS, Calif., Feb. 11, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- ICCBBA has released their annual Enterprise Grant. This year ICCBBA has increased the total fund to $100,000 USD. Each applicant can now request up to a maximum award of $50,000 USD, providing even greater support for impactful projects.
Who is ICCBBA & What do They Do?
ICCBBA is the international non-profit standards development organization dedicated to managing and developing the ISBT 128 Standard, the international information standard for the terminology, coding, and labeling of Medical Products of Human Origin (MPHO) e.g. blood, cells, tissues, human milk, organs. The organization plays a critical role in enhancing patient safety through the development and maintenance of this standard, as well as allocating globally unique identifiers to registered facilities. Since its establishment in 1995, over 3152 MPHO organizations from 77 countries have registered with ICCBBA.

Open exclusively to providers of MPHO transfusion and/or transplantation services that are non-profit entities, public institutions, and/or governmental agencies.

Award Information
Successful applicants will receive formal notification from ICCBBA via a Notice of Award (NoA) sent directly to the applicant organization's business email. Payment procedures vary based on the grant amount. Any unused funds must be returned to ICCBBA upon termination of the agreement. Grantees may request extensions in writing under specific circumstances. Grantees must provide written reports summarizing project progress within specified timeframes.

ICCBBA is the international standards development organization responsible for the management and development of the ISBT 128 Standard.
The acronym ISBT was originally derived from the important role played by the International Society of Blood Transfusion in the development of the standard. Today it expands as Information Standard for Blood and Transplant. The number 128 reflects the 128 characters of the ISO/IEC 646 7-bit character set. The acronym ICCBBA is derived from the International Council for Commonality in Blood Banking Automation.
