IDS Transportation Services, LLC Announces Co-Marketing Agreement with Streamline, a Union Pacific Subsidiary
PLAINFIELD, Ind., Jan. 22, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- IDS Transportation Services LLS, a full-service logistics company specializing in intermodal transportation, and Streamline, a subsidiary of Union Pacific Railroad Company, announced a co-marketing agreement today.
Domestic intermodal is one of the fastest growing segments in the transportation marketplace. Streamline provides truck-like door-to-door service to the marketplace using industry-leading technology. IDS utilizes Streamline's services to provide intermodal alternatives to mid-tier shippers. The agreement to co-market services with IDS will improve awareness of the benefits of intermodal transportation in the shipping community and position IDS and Streamline as solution providers.
"For 5 years, Streamline has focused on driving highway conversions to Union Pacific Railroad," said Kari Kirchhoefer, Streamline's Assistant Vice President. "Our co-marketing agreement with IDS was a great opportunity to work with a long-term customer who can position both companies to capitalize on the growing market."
"The agreement between Streamline and IDS is the first of its kind," explained IDS Vice President of Transportation Shelli Austin. "Many smaller shippers are not aware that transportation intermediaries such as IDS offer a cost-effective way to access intermodal services. Through our close relationship with Streamline, we can offer shippers intermodal rates competitive with OTR and the same level of service they have come to expect from OTR."
"This is part of the continued maturation of our relationship with Streamline," said IDS Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Office of Transportation Rick LaGore. "We have been working closely together over the past few years to help build the intermodal awareness and brand in the marketplace. The co-marketing effort will help shippers connect more quickly with the relationship IDS has with Streamline. We help their efforts to better understand the benefits of 53-foot domestic intermodal options as a replacement or capacity alternative to truckload lanes."
As part of the agreement, IDS and Streamline will launch cooperative branding advertisements in trade publications and other media highlighting the full range of intermodal transportation services offered by IDS and Streamline. The new co-branding effort began in early November.
