Ignite Glass Studios Offers A Look Into The World Of Glass Art During The "Day Of Glass," March 19
CHICAGO, Feb. 19, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Ignite Glass Studios, Chicago's state-of-the-art, glass blowing and glass art educational studio in Chicago's West Loop neighborhood, will offer the public the unprecedented opportunity to get an up-close look at the mesmerizing world of glass art with free demonstrations during the Day of Glass, on March 19. This special event is hosted in conjunction with the Glass Art Society conference, which will, for the first time in its 43-year history, take place in Chicago on March 19-22.
- Artists from Ignite will give guided tours of Ignite's gallery, hot shop, and cold shop and be on hand to answer any artistic or technical questions about the studio and the making of glass art from 9 a.m.-12 noon.
- Renowned glass artists Karen Willenbrink-Johnsen and Jasen Johnsen will conduct a live, interactive glassblowing demonstration; Visitors will have the opportunity to watch from a few feet away and feel the heat as Willenbrink-Johnsen creates glass art pieces in Ignite's hot shop.
- Visitors will have the opportunity to enter to win a piece of glass artwork, specially designed by an Ignite artisan.

Ignite Glass Studios will also host The Glass Art Society Pre-Conference dinner on March 19 from 6–10 p.m. Guests will be treated to a once-in-a-lifetime experience of elegant dining amid the fire and creation of Ignite Glass Studios, while enjoying some of Chicago's best chefs on the culinary scene. Glass-inspired cocktails and hors d'oeuvres will be created by Embeya's Danielle Pizzutillo and Chef Thai Dang (2013 Jean Banchet Rising Chef Award winner). Matthias Merges, chef extraordinaire and owner of Yusho, Billy Sunday and the newly opened A10, will create a unique dinner experience for attendees, inspired by the work of the Glass Art Conference Lifetime Achievement Award recipient, Dan Dailey.
