VIENNA, November 20, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --
The Austrian brand iku®windows has stood for advanced innovations in self-cleaning windows and curtain walls for years. Safety comes first in all product developments. The façade integrated cleaning system works by just the touch of a button, any time. The iku®windows maintenance unit and the evacuation system allow risk-free façade maintenance as well as safe transport of people and equipment at any height.
Following an international study by a British insurance company, window cleaning is one of the most dangerous jobs in the world. "The current accident at 1 World Trade Center proves once more the necessity of intelligent and safe solutions for façade maintenance" says Julius Thurnher, patent owner of iku®windows.
Intelligent Curtain walls with integrated self-cleaning mechanism
The technology is based on a world patent, which was invented by Julius Thurnher. Electronically controlled wipers with automatic water supply enable the cleaning of large façade surfaces at the touch of a button. Benefits: Apart from enormous time-saving, the system convinces by usability, safety and cost-effectiveness. For integrated Photovoltaic and Solar cells the benefit doubles: With regular cleaning the efficiency of the cells is granted.
In cooperation with the University of Technology in Vienna, iku®windows developed an outside evacuation unit that can be used for the transport of up to eight persons in one go. Similar to emergency exits in aircraft, so-called "evacuation points" can be set up at various areas in the façade, enabling a safe escape for endangered people.
Numerous reference projects have been implemented - further marketing is currently being negotiated with international investors.
