Illinois AFL-CIO Endorses C.J. Baricevic for Congress

BELLEVILLE, Ill., Jan. 13, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Democratic congressional candidate C.J. Baricevic (Bar-civic) yesterday was endorsed by the Illinois AFL-CIO in the race for the 12^th congressional district seat

The Illinois AFL-CIO, representing over 900,000 working men and women throughout Illinois, endorsed Baricevic over incumbent Mike Bost. 

"This endorsement by Illinois AFL-CIO, with its considerable financial and political support, is a major boost to our campaign to unseat Mike Bost. This is both a clear signal that our campaign is gaining strength and that Mike Bost is no friend of working families who reside throughout the 12^th District," said Baricevic.

"Mike Bost has a long record of fighting against the interests of working men and women. He voted for the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal which will ship jobs abroad, harm steelworkers at US Steel in Granite City, harm I.B.E.W. workers in Franklin County, and lower wages. He has repeatedly voted against collective bargaining rights, opposes raising the minimum wage, and supports turning Medicare into a voucher system," said Baricevic.

In contrast to Bost, Baricevic has a long history of working with labor. Baricevic worked with Local 439 Pipefitters at Granite City Steel, worked as a laborer for Local 100 helping build Highways 159 and Route 31, and most recently represented labor unions in their battle against Governor Bruce Rauner.

There will be a rally in support of Baricevic's endorsement tomorrow, Thursday January 14^th starting at 5p and go until 7p - at the Steamfitters Local 439 in Caseyville at 1220 Donald Bailey Dr.
