DETROIT, April 2, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- As the leading Post Hospitalist Company, General Medicine continues to improve to the healthcare industry. 112 of General Medicine's Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Facility Partners nationwide have been recognized as the Nation's Best Nursing Homes for 2013. This recognition is reported by U.S. News & World Report in its annual Best Nursing Homes report.

U.S. News determines annual rankings of facilities through data collected from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). CMS assigns each facility certified by the government a rating of one to five stars through its internal rating system, which measures annual performance in health inspections, improvements in clinical care, time spent by physicians and other clinicians with patients, nurse staffing and quality of medical care. The Post Hospitalist Company's 112 facility partners received ratings of four or five stars. "Overall in the markets we serve, only about 15 percent of all nursing homes earn 'Best Nursing Home' status. In 2013, our 112 facility partners represent over half of the top rated facilities in their markets," according to the U.S. News & World Report in their annual Best Nursing Homes report.
