SEATTLE, Jan. 22, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- In honor of Aware for All Seattle, Governor Jay Inslee has declared January 30th Clinical Research Education Day in the state of Washington. Aware for All Seattle is a free event created by the Center for Information and Study on Clinical Research Participation (CISCRP). The event is designed to educate the public about clinical research and give the public and local researchers the chance to connect as part of the Seattle community.
The event, sponsored regionally by WIRB, and nationally by EMD Serono, will be held at the Seattle Town Hall on Thursday, January 30th from 5PM to 8PM and will feature educational programs, an exhibition area featuring local organizations, and free refreshments. The AWARE program will include lectures focusing on various health conditions, free health screenings, a clinical research educational handbook, and access to a nationwide database of clinical trials.
This free event is open to the public, however, advanced registration is encouraged through firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling 1-877-MED-HERO.
"This is a real chance for the Seattle research community to connect with individuals, and for individuals to get their questions answered and discover if research is the right choice for them," explained Ken Getz, Founder and Chairman of the Board at CISCRP.
Continued Getz, "Most participants are uncertain about the research process and what to expect before they take part. Ultimately, CISCRP hopes to empower patients to make more informed decisions about clinical research."
CISCRP was founded in 2003 as a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide outreach and education to improve clinical research literacy among public and patient communities.
