Nonprofit, Founded by Veterans, Seeks Donations for 2 Boats To Help Keep U.S. Coastlines Clean
CHARLESTON, S.C., Oct. 17, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Wounded Nature-Working Veterans has launched two competing crowdfunding campaigns to help increase the organization's capacity to clean coastal waters. Each campaign will fund a 30-foot landing craft boat that will be used to transport volunteers to and from hard to reach coastal areas. To add some spirited competition to this campaign, Wounded Nature is naming one of the boats, "Hillary" and the other "Donald," and has set up two competing crowdfunding campaigns on CloudDonate.com.
Donors can support either boat. Choose either the "Donald" or the "Hillary" campaign and those who donate $20.00 or more, will have their name displayed on the boat they choose.
Wounded Nature has been cleaning coastal areas since 2010, but Hurricane Matthew dramatically increased coastal trash and debris, giving new urgency to this campaign. These two campaigns end on Election Day and will greatly enhance the nonprofit's capability to clean trash from coastal waters.
"What we do and where we go requires boats, equipment and a lot of people willing to get dirty and work hard under adverse conditions," said Rudy Socha, Chief Executive Officer of Wounded Nature, and a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran. "One of the biggest problems and obstacles Wounded Nature faces is getting our many volunteers to coastal areas that are hard to access and then bringing those volunteers and trash back. These two new landing craft boats will help our volunteers in their cleanup efforts which have a direct positive impact on coastal wildlife."
Wounded Nature–Working Veterans works year round removing debris from hard to access coastal areas, returning these areas to their original pristine condition. The organization was founded by U.S. military veterans and its volunteers are currently comprised of active duty military members and U.S. military veterans as well as civilian volunteers.
